Unit 1 - Personal Development

Course Overview

Learn essential skills for today’s manager. Time Management, Communication Skills, Setting Objectives, as well as creating your own Personal Development Plan are just some of the areas covered.

If you do not wish to take the whole unit, you can choose just one module.

This unit:

• Focuses on the importance of continuous personal and professional development.

• Will enable you to improve your time management skills.

• Will enhance the skills required for effective management to meet work objectives and improve performance for your future career development.

• Will enable you to identify your own development needs through conducting a skills audit and personal development planning process.

• Will enable to demonstrate that you have a regularly updated and realistic personal development plan which fits with your own preferred learning style.

• Will enable you to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of your learning on your career path.

Aims and Objectives

Time Management - Module 1
Explore the skills and techniques needed for effective time management. You will learn how to evaluate and put into practice the main techniques required for effective time management to achieve organisational and personal objectives.

Personal and Professional Skills - Module 2
Examine the professional and personal skills needed to manage effectively. You will analyse and be enabled to put into practice a range of personal and professional skills required for effective management.

Personal Skills Audit and Personal Development Plan - Module 3
Learn how to (and actually carry out) a personal skills audit and produce a personal development plan. Develop relevant skills and so be able to perform a personal skills audit which is relevant to life and career goals, illustrating the skills required to manage effectively.

Prerequisites

The programme will suit those comfortable with flexible online learning. Please contact your Pitman Training Advisor for guidance.

Online learning gives you great flexibility – learn at home or work or wherever you have broadband access to the internet.

Personal Skills Audit and Personal Development Plan (Module 3)
Includes:
• How Individuals Differ (including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)
• Learning Styles
• Life and Career Planning
• Setting Standards and Objectives
